There aren’t enough superlative adjectives to describe Agape Day Camp and all it meant for the 19 youngsters who participated. Wish you all could have been here to witness just a glimpse of how wonderful it is!
The enthusiasm of the children is infectious! Whether singing, playing, doing crafts or skits, storytelling, learning about nature or just acting goofy celebrating God’s creation, the children were exuberant from the time of arrival at 9 a.m. to departure at 3 p.m. Each learned a lot and can’t wait for day camp again next year!
There are many people to thank for making all this possible. Faith Formation, primarily Diane Falls and Beth Butlak, did an excellent job organizing and making everything ready for the four exemplary counselors. The Agape Team who came to Good Shepherd this year was the best! Four young, committed Christian college students enthusiastically shared and led the children and provided them with an experience they will remember for a lifetime. Our thanks go to Camp Agape for selecting and training these young folks and we offer gratitude to Kristin Slaybaugh, the team leader; Daniel Lynn who worked with the second through fourth grade group; Maddie Bass who worked with all second graders, and Lizzie Akins who worked with the fifth and sixth graders. Their enthusiasm and professionalism is amazing. Of course we thank Hal & Ruth Neely for opening their home again to house these four young people. Numerous people provided the evening meals, helped with the ice cream social and brought supplies. All of your combined efforts provided an enduring time of faith building and life-long memories for these children. Well done! We can’t wait for next year!
